Boxing has been in every Summer Olympics since it was introduced in 1904, except for the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm because the Swedish banned the sport at the time. The Summer Olympics of 2008 were the last Summer Olympics where Boxing was a male only event, beginning in 2012, womans boxing was introduced into the Summer Olympics.

The boxing competition is organized as a set of tournaments, one for each weight class, there is currently 10 weight classes for men and 3 for woman. Until 1936 weight was measured in pounds but from 1948 and forward it's now measured in kilograms.

 The following table is ranked by the number of golds, then silvers, then bronzes.
